🌹 Why is career planning important to women?

Since it’s my birthday next month, I feel like writing a post dedicated to women!

🛍 As a kid, my mother and cousins would always joke that women do not need to focus on their career if they come from a rich family or marry a rich husband... 

As a rebellious kid, I never listen to my parents and chose another path of working hard 🤣 

But I still believe women should focus on their dreams/career because of 3 reasons:

❣ 1) Women, on average, have a longer lifespan than men. 

HK women, surprisingly, have the longest lifespan in the world. 

👵 Our average life expectancy is 88 years old. 

Imagine you are lucky and healthy and live beyond 100 years old.

As such, you have 38 years (from 22 to 60 years old - if you are lucky to have a job at 59 years old..) to work for your 40-years of retirement income. 

🤰 2) Women who plan to give birth will have at least 1- 5 years of income unproductive years (depending on how many kids you have)

Your career will inevitably slow down when you are pregnant or on maternity leave.

Your salary will drop during those period. 

💥 3) Men still statistically make more than women, even though the gap is closing. 

Given all the 3 factors above, women should also focus on their careers as well.

🤣 The above does not apply to women who marry a rich husband or come from a rich family!
