The recent Tai Po fire accident was heartbreaking for Hong Kong.
Despite the sadness, I noticed something powerful:
🏅 People came together, united in support and care.
It reminded me to be more empathetic and intentional in how I connect with others.
Over the past few days, I’ve made an effort to engage in conversations with strangers
- taxi drivers
- people at the gym
- shopkeepers
💬 Small interactions, but they made me feel more grounded and human.
I also realised how much we’ve lost some of our basic communication skills.
Too often, we walk with our eyes glued to our phones, avoiding eye contact.
In the past, we were taught to smile, nod, and acknowledge our neighbors
even if we didn’t know them well.
☕ This week, I also met more new clients and candidates face to face, and I felt genuinely happier.
It reminded me that real connection doesn’t happen through screens
It happens when we look up, listen, and share moments together.
Maybe it’s time we return to the basics:
👀 Eye contact
😊 Smiles
🗣️ Genuine conversations
❤️ Gratitude for the people around us
Because at the end of the day, these are the interactions that create better memories and remind us of what truly matters.
Going forward, I will try to meet more of my clients/candidates or new connections face to face!
