🌟 Time to Dream Big: How I Plan to Do Better in My Career!

Ever since I hit Lean FIRE and achieved my Q2 commission target, I decided to take some days off

- To reward myself and

- To think about the next stage of life.

But here’s the funny thing:

Because I genuinely love working, taking time off actually makes me feel… bored!

I tried filling my free time with shopping for new clothes, sports gear, and signing up for more squash and pilates classes.

Yet none of these gave me the same satisfaction my career does.

Where I Find Joy:

- Delivering a speech and teaching students or young professionals.

- Closing a recruitment deal.

- Celebrating with candidates and clients over drinks or dinner.

Those moments bring me joy in a way hobbies never could... (Unless I am a full time squash or pilates instructor or player)

I think hobbies cannot fully replace work..

Both must exist to have a fulfilling life and combination..

It reminded me of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs:

The stage of self-actualisation.

Work helps us define who we are partially.

---------------------------------------------

What Financial Freedom Really Means To Me:

For me, financial freedom isn’t about doing nothing.

It’s about:

- Staying true to myself.

- Living my dream.

- Working with passion and flexibility.

Everyone has unique talents to contribute to society

(Even full time mothers and dad are contributing to the society by raising our next generations to be better)

That’s why I don’t see myself retiring unless I’m forced to.

Dreaming Bigger

If you’ve achieved Lean FIRE or Barista FIRE, the next step isn’t just more money.

The next step is self-actualisation and chasing your dreams.

For me, that means:

- Expanding beyond Hong Kong, becoming a more well-known and better recruiter across APAC 🌏 To meet more new clients and candidates

- Bringing positive influence to the region through online platforms showing that people can enjoy work and find meaningful work

- Saving my commission to start a scholarship for CUHK graduates who are entrepreneurs.

I believe society moves forward through creativity and innovation 💡

----------------

Final Thought 💬

- Dreaming big and setting bigger goals injects energy and joy into life.

- Money alone doesn’t do that but purpose, passion, and contribution do!

What's your dream and will you stick with your current job if money is no longer a problem?

Btw, Happy Fathers' Day to all dads out there including my awesome dad!
