🔥🔥Unless you are burnt out or have a financial cushion!!
Thank you my followers for liking my previous article with Ian. I love Ian's authentic story and sharing.
🧠 I received some messages thinking that I was being let go and offered me different job opportunities (The power of LinkedIn and Connections)!
I am happy with my role now but I did think of what to do if I were being let go.
🔥🔥Here are 4 tips for myself and my candidates: 🔥🔥
✅ 1) Speak to recruiters and start looking out for different opportunities
⚡Granted the market is slower
⚡Available jobs are lower
⚡Interview processes are longer
⚡Clients are being selective because of uncertainty
⚡ Candidates’ competitions are more fierce
⚡During uncertain times, company usually goes for restructuring/outsourcing
⚡You never know when the next restructuring will happen
⚡It would be best to prepare yourself to explore the job market
✅ 2) Prepare yourself– Mentally: Manage your Stress Level
⚡With layoffs happening more frequently
⚡Workload will increase – one person has to do three people’s work
⚡Stress level will go up too
⚡Learn how to regulate your stress level
⚡I was burnt out few months ago when the market was slow, companies weren’t willing to expand their headcount
⚡My revenue dropped to record low in my entire 7 years’ of recruitment life
⚡I solved this by speaking to my family, supportive boss and best friends
⚡I started exercising more, worked harder and smarter – finding profitable clients and shifting away from the loss making ones
✅ 3) Prepare yourself – Financially💰💰
⚡ Many people reached out and said they really wanted to quit as they were very burnt out
⚡ I usually advise them that finding your next job would take at least take 6-9 months
⚡ Save up at least 12 months’ of emergency fund if you plan to take a career break
⚡ I understand with the stress level, people get burnt out easily and I experienced that too
✅ 4) Start networking and accumulating your portfolio
⚡ Network with recruiters, hiring managers and HRs
⚡ Once there are new headcount, they will think of you first
⚡ Level up your LinkedIn profile
(Feel free to DM me if you want to know how to make a good profile)
⚡ Invest in new skills to open up more job opportunities
⚡ Start a side hustle and make passive income
⚡ Try to have more than one income source
⚡ Apart from my pay check, I receive money from rental and equities
