🎁 My Creative Christmas/Birthday Gift Idea for Dad

December is always special in my family.

It’s both Christmas and my dad’s birthday.

Every year he insists I get him a present.

For the past few years I’ve stuck to the classics:

👕 polo shirts, ties, cufflinks.

Safe choices, but not exactly memorable.

This year, I wanted to do something different.

Something practical, thoughtful, and a little creative.

👉 Instead of buying him another shirt, I decided to gift him freedom of movement.

I set up the Uber app on his phone and linked it to my credit card.

Now, he can travel to my place or anywhere else quickly and easily, without worrying about transport.

Why this gift?

In Hong Kong, hiring a private driver is expensive:

- Overseas drivers (Filipino/Indonesian) cost around HK$12–13k/month

- Local drivers cost about HK$20k/month

That’s way beyond my budget.

But with Uber, he can still enjoy the convenience of getting around without the huge expense.

💡 For me, this isn’t about saving money.

It’s about buying back time with family.

And honestly, I think that’s the most valuable gift of all.
