💭 Nicole, What If Your Job No Longer Exists?

That was the question my client asked me yesterday.

I have a habit of catching up with clients every 2–3 months.

Usually, these calls bring updates, new roles, or referrals.

But this time, my client said:

“I wanted to give you business too, but many of my roles this year were filled through LinkedIn sourcing or internal referrals.

I’m worried about your industry.

Have you started planning what to do if recruitment no longer exists?”

✏️ To be honest, I’ve been asked this question a few times this year.

Most by my clients because they are the ones who cannot use our service because of cost saving.

And it’s a fair one.

We all see the trend:

📉 Fewer jobs in developed markets.

💼 Expensive labour replaced by cheaper labour.

🤖 Cheaper labour now gradually replaced by AI bots.

The honest truth?

I haven’t fully planned what’s next if recruitment disappears in 2–5 years.

My current focus has always been saving and investing so I don’t need to downsize if income stops.

But beyond that, I know I’ll need to explore what’s available in the market and find something I love after my job no longer exist.

With the pace of change, who knows what jobs will even exist in 2–3 years?
