⚡ How My Recruitment Strategies Are Evolving With More Competition

Lately, I’ve had less time to write because the deals I’m working on have been… challenging.

Recruitment today feels very different compared to a few years ago.

Some of the hurdles I’ve faced recently include:

- Competing recruiters sending 30 CVs for the same role to the line manager.

- Roles suddenly being pulled because the headcount is no longer available.

- Line managers changing requirements four times (or more).

- Managers requesting more CVs even after interviewing 10 candidates

With all this happening, I realized I couldn’t keep working the same way. I needed to adapt.

Here’s how my strategy has shifted:

1️⃣ Focus on “A Clients”

I now prioritize clients who:

- Value quality and are willing to pay higher fees.

- Know what they want.

- Work with me exclusively or with only a few firms.

This allows me to spend my time where it truly matters.

2️⃣ Prepare Candidates Better

I invest more time in equipping candidates with:

- Detailed information about the role.

- The right skills and mindset to succeed.

- Because every role now takes more effort to close, preparation is key.

The reality is: recruitment has become tougher, but it’s also more rewarding when you work smarter, not harder.
