💭 “What’s the Worst That Can Happen?”

ree

A question that changed how I handle stress.

I still remember the moment

When markets were flooded with layoff news, and I was overwhelmed at work.

Instead of telling me to “just chill,” my dad sat down and asked:

“What’s the worst case scenario?”

We listed it out together:

🚫 No more fancy coffee runs

🚫 No fine dining or shopping

🚫 No travel or personal training

🏠 Maybe even moving back in with my parents

💸 Possibly no income for 6–9 months while job hunting

It wasn’t comforting but it was clarifying.

That simple question helped me shift from panic to perspective.

It forced me to be honest with myself, to think through the worst, and to realise:

Even the worst isn’t the end.

It’s survivable.

Since then, I’ve learned that:

💡Having a backup plan reduces anxiety

💡Visualising the worst helps you prepare for the unexpected

Most importantly, it stops you from spiraling into overthinking

So next time you’re stressed, ask yourself: “What’s the worst that can happen?”

You might just find clarity on the other side.

I hope the above can help my audiences as I can sense my candidates and clients are relatively stressed nowadays!

👠 P.S. In the photo, I was having breakfast at the Upper House Hotel Hong Kong. It is a great place for family and for me to bring clients.
