Hong Kong is under T8 today. Restaurants and gyms are closed.
Everyone is stuck indoors on a Sunday!!
✏️ So I’m taking a moment to reflect on what’s helped me stay grounded lately
And I invite you to do the same
The past 2 years in the job market?
CHAOTIC:
📉Revenue dropped
📉Layoffs hit the FS market hard
📉Anxiety about job security grew louder
But things are finally picking up
And I hope it will last longer
That said, surviving the downturn economy has changed my mindset slightly
🧠 My mindset has changed in 2 ways
First, It taught me to think longer term in terms of
I want to be the last standing man..
Because I really enjoy working..
📊 How can I ensure I will be relevant to the society if AI can replace most of our jobs in the future?
Second, I’ve learned to take more risks in the worst economy, not fewer.
Because I started asking myself:
“If I didn’t do this, would my life still be the same?”
Why? Because the real risk is stagnation.
When you stop growing, you start becoming replaceable.
🤖 And let’s be honest: with AI evolving faster than ever, recruiters (and many other jobs) won’t be immune.
Some clients have been telling me that they are looking to build an AI system that can source and filter CVs and automatically invite the candidates for interviews
⚠️ But what can’t be automated? The human element. Empathy. Real connection.
So I’m futureproofing by embracing:
- More risk
- More relationships
- More face to face interactions
⛈️ And if today’s storm forces you indoors, maybe it’s the perfect time to ask yourself:
🔍 What small decision could I make right now that would make my life meaningful and different?
