My Biggest Fear 😰

Over the holiday and weekend, I've been thinking about one question:
What is my biggest fear in my career?
It used to be getting fired.
When I was younger, that thought terrified me.
But after 9 years in recruitment, I've seen SO many people around me get fired.
Younger than me.
Older than me.
Smarter than me.
More senior.
More junior.
No one is immune.
Being laid off has become the norm. A common trend.
So I always mentally prepare myself: I could be fired anytime.
Which means getting fired is no longer my biggest fear.
My biggest fear is regression. Becoming obsolete in society 🥀
The idea that no matter how hard I work, no matter what new skills I learn.
They're no longer useful.
Losing hope.
No one wants to buy my service.
No one wants to employ me.
No one needs me or my talent anymore.
That would be the scariest part of my life.
Not losing a job but losing relevance.
Because a job can be replaced. Hope can't.
How about you? 👇
What is YOUR biggest fear in your career?
Is it getting fired?
Becoming irrelevant?
Or something else entirely?
