Lessons in EQ, Leadership & Resilience
Yesterday, I filmed new career reels with Ray (Wen Jie) LIEW and Eugene Chan (huge thanks to both of you! 🙌 )
It was my first time meeting Eugene
He isn’t just a media founder
He is also a Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia whose company generates multi-million USD revenue annually.
When I asked him about the hardest part of being an entrepreneur, he didn’t talk about funding, scaling, or strategy.
He said:
“Being an entrepreneur is a lonely journey.”
He shared how, as a founder:
- You have to lift your team’s spirits (even when you’re feeling low)
- You deliver for clients (even when they don’t say thank you)
- And when you feel frustrated... (there’s often no one to lean on)
That hit me hard. 💥
I realised Eugene has a higher level of EQ than me.
Because truthfully, when clients are demanding and don’t acknowledge my extra effort, I sometimes take it personally.
I get frustrated and upset.
But Eugene reminded me:
Don’t take it personally. Stay professional. Stay grounded.
Maybe that’s the secret to building a multi-million dollar business.
💡 Takeaway:
- Success isn’t just about hustle
- It’s about emotional resilience.
- It’s about showing up with grace, even when no one’s clapping.
- Stay tuned for my upcoming Career Lab episodes featuring Ray and Eugene real talk, real stories, and real lessons you won’t want to miss. 🎬
- Eugene's story also shows that there are many career options that can lead you to success (not the typical traditional path of being an investment banker, software engineer, doctor or lawyer to be financially rewarding)
