šŸ“® My immediately available candidate is looking for a 30% increment

ree

Right or wrong?

My candidate is out of the job market for 12 months.Ā

ā³ From time to time, he would reach out to me for new job opportunities.

He was let go by his previous firm because of restructuring.

ā° I would refer him job opportunities similar to his last salary.

He rejected me for multiple times as he wanted to go for a higher salary increment.

šŸ—ƒ I explained to him that

In a good market, 15-30% increment is quite common

In a slow market, 5-15% increment would be lucky

šŸ’” There are 2 schools of thoughts:

Some argue that ā€œWe should not settle for lessā€

Some argue that ā€œIn a down market, we should be adaptable with the market conditionsā€Ā

šŸ’° If I were being let go, I would definitely go for a job that is similar to my pay without expecting much increment because I have bills to pay.

However, if I were financial independent, trying to think in my candidate’s shoes,

šŸ“ I wonder how long am I willing to wait for a job that meets my requirement – 30% increment.Ā

šŸ“ Similar to dating, if your goal is to find someone you like to form a family, however, after spending many years and no one meets your requirement, do you plan to adjust your requirements or plan to stay alone forever?

This is always an interesting question in life and our career.

šŸ”ŗ Life is all about opportunity cost.

šŸ”ŗ There is no right or wrong answer as long as we own up to our decisions!

āœ… What about you?

āœ… If you were financially independent, how long are you willing to wait for your ideal job to come up?
